Ardent is already seeing a 7x annualized ROI from Qventus, so I sat down with Ardent’s Chief of Enterprise Services, John Latina, to get his personal take on the impact our partnership is having. 

 

What were your biggest operational challenges that led you to Qventus? 

“It wasn’t challenges, per se, but the desire to grow surgical volumes. As more and more procedures are moving to outpatient locations, our hospitals had capacity and we needed to fill it. Unused OR time is truly a waste of productivity and resources, is frustrating to our healthcare staff, and impacts our ability to get patients the surgeries they need in a timely manner.” 

 

How does Qventus help you meet this goal? 

“The Perioperative Solution helps Ardent be more strategic and deliberate in freeing up block time, but more importantly, actually filling that time” said Latina. “Prior to Qventus, OR schedulers were manually trying to free up block time based on when they knew surgeons liked to operate. It was faxes, and emails, and phone calls. Now, the Perioperative Solution can proactively nudge and free up time based on surgeons’ personalized behaviors and patterns, and automatically and intelligently advertise open blocks to schedulers to get patients on the books.” 

It has also helped Ardent’s new surgeons ramp up more quickly, as they can get into OR time sooner.  And, it’s boosting physician satisfaction because they can quickly and easily find time at two different surgical locations without having to call anyone. 

“Our team is over the moon with the market insights Qventus provides,’ Latina commented. “Through these curated reports, Ardent can identify independent surgeon splitters who are going to different places and show them that we have the capacity, the new da Vincis, no staff constraints, and no anesthesia constraints.” 

 

Talk to me about the value that Qventus drove, as compared to other solutions on the market. 

“Qventus is a complete solution. We love that it is EHR-agnostic, web-based, and lets us integrate with independent clinics. We looked at other platforms and the results weren’t meaningful and the functionality wasn’t comparable. For example, some slightly increased case volume, but the volume was only from employed surgeons–and that wasn’t the problem we were trying to solve.” 

“Schedulers in our clinics are extremely satisfied. Our call volumes, inbound and outbound, are down 30% and will continue to drop as we get more efficient. We’re streamlining work and no longer chasing people. That sort of utilization and end user satisfaction is unique to Qventus.”
